Thank you everyone, and a special thanks to each of you in the 5th district who voted for me. Your support is truly humbling, and I promise to work hard for you in the months and years to come. I look forward to working with Mayor Davison and a new Athens-Clarke County Commission as we tackle the complex issues in store for us. I think you can depend on us to work creatively, openly and with a new spirit of congeniality. It is very exciting for me to take office with a mayor and commission who share our vision for the future of Athens.

I have many people to thank, but first I would like to recognize Mr. Hugh Logan for his 40+ years of dedicated public service. His service to this community is a laudable achievement, and he certainly serves as an example to all of us. Likewise, in an age when there seems to be no limit to political mudslinging, he ran his campaign like he has always served the people of Athens, with honor and as a gentleman. Thank you, Mr. Logan.

As a political newcomer, I can only attribute this victory to our message and to an incredible group of volunteers. We started this campaign over a year ago, and I thank each of you from the bottom of my heart for staying enthusiastic and energetic throughout a long campaign. It was truly a team effort, but I have to individually thank Emuel Aldridge, Amy Andrews, Kris Boudreau, Sue Custance, Mimi & Steve Elliott-Gower, Beth Gavrilles, Carole Holmes, Michael Lachowski, Dorothy O'Niell and Paul Quick. My campaign would have gotten nowhere without their dedication, long hours, patience and hard work. Thanks especially to everyone who canvassed for me and to those who hosted special events.

I hope that you will all take some time to savor our victory. Soon it will be time for me to get busy and prepare for the work ahead, and I hope you will continue to support me by sharing your views and expertise. Thank you all!
